Soul

On December 25th, Disney released their new film ‘Soul’. It promotes the idea of souls being infinite and indestructible, while human existence is just a form of an experience of the soul in the space and time continuum.

I watched it last night and I couldn’t wait to communicate my thoughts with you, humans!

Have you ever wondered what makes you truly alive?

Joe Gardner (the protagonist) is a middle-aged music band teacher at mid-school, who believes his true purpose is to play jazz music. After inadvertently falling down a manhole and winding up in The Great Before, Joe becomes an unwitting mentor to “22”, a new soul still searching for her own “spark.”

Mistaking a passion for being alive with having a specific purpose, Joe comes to learn that life is not about having some preordained purpose but choosing to live each day purposefully.

So, here’s my take on the movie: We tend to take things for granted, I mean simple everyday things in life like, the hug your parents give you, the morning catch-up with your neighbor, the sun that shines on your face (well, at least where I’m from it happens often!), the fact that we’re are actually breathing. The list goes on; you get the point.

If you look around you, I am pretty sure you will also realize, that simply being alive is a miracle. So make a favor to yourselves and instead of finding the negative aspect in everything, start highlighting this thought in your head.

And make a second favor to yourselves, Watch ‘Soul’, tonight!
